charāġh bāñTne vāloñ pa hairateñ na karo
ye āftāb haiñ, shab kī duā meñ shaad raheñ
charagh banTne walon pa hairaten na karo
ye aaftab hain, shab ki dua mein shad rahen
fāḳhtā.eñ boltī haiñ bajroñ ke des meñ
tū bhī sun le āsmāñ ye giit mere naam kā
faKHtaen bolti hain bajron ke des mein
tu bhi sun le aasman ye git mere nam ka
hijāb aa gayā thā mujh ko dil ke iztirāb par
yahī sabab hai tere dar pe lauT kar na aa sakā

kisī kā saaya rah gayā galī ke ain moḌ par
usī habīb saa.e se banī hamārī dāstāñ

dard-mandoñ kā fasāna thaa, uchhālā kis ne
