raat gahri thi phir bhi sawera sa tha

ek chehra ki āñkhoñ meñ Thahrā sā thā
be-charāgī se terī mire shahr-e-dil
vādī-e-sher meñ kuchh ujālā sā thā
mere chehre kā sūraj use yaad hai
bhūltā hai palak par sitāra sā thā
baat kiije to khulte the jauhar bahut
dekhne meñ to vo shaḳhs saada sā thā
sulh jis se rahī merī tā-zindagī
us kā saare zamāne se jhagḌā sā thā

dekhne mein to wo shaKHs sada sa tha
sulh jis se rahi meri ta-zindagi
us ka sare zamane se jhagDa sa tha
